Want to know more about me?

Good Morning all…

I’m working on a hangover and 3 hours sleep this morning, so I am hoping that the copious amounts of coffee I am going to drink today, will help get me through this bank holiday weekend!

I’ve decided to use this post to have a little bit of fun because so much of what is written online today, seems to lack any sense of personal connection. It seems that most people are simply just too afraid to really be themselves.

So instead, they attempt to act all ‘professional’ and as a result, their writing comes out dry, dull and exceptionally boring!

Or even worse, they attempt to copy someone else’s style and act like someone they are not – they end up looking like an awful Beatles tribute group… you know, the ones with the awful wigs and cheap St Pepper costumes!

So let’s step away from the red satin military- style splendour costumes and bring out the real deal! Emotional, a little rebellious and exceptionally quirky… but 100% human and 100% real!

And so, in order to prove that I am not a robot that remains locked in a store cupboard all day, I have decided to share 30 of my own quirks, habits and closely guarded secrets.

So here goes nothing…

1) Big heart… bigger feet!

I am only 5 foot 1 inches tall… but I have ridiculously large feet. I don’t know how this even happened, but being a size 8 (US 10) is an absolute pain in the ass. Shoes are wayyy more expensive and I can’t share with any of my friends because their feet are so small.

2) You can never have “too many”…

I have an obsession with shoes and handbags. They honestly make me exceptionally happy and I have no room for anymore in my humble abode. (I can find room if I need to, so don’t worry.)

3) Turning the next page…

I LOVE the smell of new shoes and books. As a result, I could never work in a shoe or bookstore because I would just look like some crazy lady walking round smelling the merchandise all day and in all honesty, I could do without that sort of attention.

4) The number four.

It’s my lucky number and sometimes rules my life. I have some weird belief that if I can do things in four’s or if I see numbers and I can make those numbers into the number four, that it is somehow lucky and means I will have a good day. Sauce packets have numbers in the top corner… a number 4 on the packet is like winning at Top Trumps, but if there is a 2 and an 8… I can make 4, so it means it is still lucky! I don’t know why I do it and at times it can be unbelievably annoying, but the number four somehow makes me happy… so it is what it is!

5) Beauty and the Beast.

It is my all time favourite Disney film and I am still absolutely in love with it. I have so much BatB merchandise, my flat almost looks like the Disney Store… almost! Gaston is an absolute loser and my opinion of him will never change…EVER!

6) Cats.

I love cats. There is a strong possibility that I could end up being a ‘crazy cat lady’ and I am ok with that.

I currently only have one cat. She is a Siamese/Bengal mix and her name is Beau. She is an absolute princess and requires more attention than I do. It is my own fault for spoiling the hell out of her. She is a nightmare but I love her more than anything.

7) The next big superstar?

I love music and I adore singing… and I’m actually pretty good if I do say so myself.

My dad still has cassettes of me and my brother singing along as he played Beatles songs ages 4 and 5… it’s clear to see I am the true superstar! Adam never stood a chance against my powerhouse voice!

8) Take That.

The greatest boyband to walk the Earth – period!!

9) Time for Tea?

Tea is life. Loose leaf, silk teabags and herbal… I love everything tea related. I have over 20 teapots and no where to put them. Yeah, I like tea!

10) Darjeeling.

Tracing back our family tree has recently revealed that we owned numerous tea plantations and still have our name to them. On my 27th birthday this year… I had afternoon tea at The Ritz in London and I drank our own tea!

11) Blue Blood.

The tracing of the family tree has also revealed a sordid affair between my great great grandmother and top Indian Royalty… as a result… my great grandmother was born. So yes, it’s true… I’m technically a Princess!

12) Just a note to say…

I take a notepad and pen pretty much everywhere I go. They are all around the house simply because you never know when a great idea or thought may strike and it’s important to remember these things.

13) Very Superstitious.

I am exceptionally superstitious and I have a thing with Magpies, Robin’s and penny’s.

I also have an unbelievably cool dance that I do to Stevie Wonder’s ‘Superstitious’.

It really is a groundbreaking routine!

14) Clowns to the left of me…

I am absolutely terrified of clowns. Like, unbelievably crying in a corner scared.

I am also scared of spiders. And wasps. And china dolls. And other people’s blood. And roller-coasters. Not much then!

15) I am the music man…

And I can play the piano and read music. I want to learn to play the violin. I’m not sure how this one will go seeing as I gave up on learning guitar after 5 lessons with my Dad, but I am willing to give it my best shot!

16) Mr Bump.

I am probably the clumsiest person in the world.

I have more scars and X-ray results than anyone I know. I even broke my toe the night before my wedding and couldn’t wear my expectationaly beautiful (and expensive) wedding shoes. I should have known it was doomed from the start…

And the best part is.. it’s not even my fault! Scientists have some how worked out the names attributed to clumsiness and my name is second on that list! So I blame my parents…

17) Write is Right.

I am happiest when I am writing. I can’t explain why or what happens to me, but I just seem to lose myself and forget the world.

18) Little Miss Chatterbox.

I talk… a lot. I almost always forget to take a breath and I never shut up… even in my sleep! Just deal with it, or move along!

19) Biggest Fan?

I can’t sleep without background white noise. My choice is having a desk fan on constantly through the night. Even in -10 degrees, my trusty fan will still be spinning, singing me a beautiful buzzy lullaby as I drift off to sleep.

20) Small town girl.

I’m a small town girl… who hates living there. The town is pretty and quiet and there lies the problem. Growing up spending most school holidays in Liverpool with our family has had a massive influence on where I want to end up living. And this small town just isn’t going to cut it anymore!

21) Hard nut to crack…

I tend to guard my emotions like a hawk and it is incredibly hard to break through my shell. But I am honestly exceptionally grateful to those who have.

22) Mum’s the word.

My mum has always and will always be my best friend. And although she is no longer with us, I truly believe she walks with me every single day. Not a day goes by that I don’t talk or think about her and that will never change.

23) Fight or Flight.

It always worries the hell out of me when I go on an aeroplane and they tell you that your seat can be used as a flotation device.

Erm, excuse me… I think I would much prefer a parachute as I am sure that would be much more helpful, but thanks for that useless piece of advice!

24) What’s a few letters?

A part of me wishes I had gone to university. The other part of me thinks it’s a waste of money. I did exceptionally well in the subjects I studied at college and graduated with honours and I think I do just fine in my job… much better than my boss who did go to university anyway… So there!

25) This thing called love…

I have the most amazing parents in the world and they have been my biggest fans since day 1. My Dad is an exceptional man (and is unbelievably funny, so that helps) and will always be the only man in the world that I trust 100%. Unlike most kids, growing up I genuinely thought they had all the answers and knew everything. It wasn’t until much later in life I realised they didn’t… but that they would do there best to try and find them!

26) All I want for Christmas…

Is my two front teeth. I fell off my bike when I was 9 and smashed my two front teeth… resulting in extensive surgery, capped veneers and being called ‘cappy’ for the rest of my life by my brother. Cheers Ad!

27) Bum note.

I have a birth mark on my bum that looks like my freckles have decided to have a party in a small room. It’s sound awful, but it’s not very big and I actually kind of like it. It’s pretty cute actually!

28) How do you like your egg’s in the morning?

Breakfast is my least favourite meal of the day. If I have it, it has to be hours after I have woken up and when I do have it, my preference would be Egg’s Benedict or a bacon sarnie on thick bread…NO SAUCE! Just stop ruining bacon sarnie’s by putting Ketchup or Brown sauce on it. STOP!

29) Benedict Holmes.

I absolutely adore Benedict Cumberbatch, especially as Sherlock Holmes. I believe that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is an absolute genius and I have read all 4 of his novels and all 56 of his short stories… and would read them all over again in a heartbeat.

30) Last but not least…I genuinely believe that ‘being yourself’ is the key to happiness and getting exactly what you want in life! And helping other people in any way you can, will enrich your life in a way that nothing else can!

Okay… so remember number 18? I know it was some time ago…

Well I’m going to stop now! It really is difficult to work out when enough is enough you know!

But I would absolutely love to hear a bit about you, so please feel free to jot down some of your quirks or habits in the comments!!

  1. Brilliantly funny read for a Sunday morning!

    1. Haa, its true Stuart… those tribute acts are shocking!

Don’t you be agreeing with my Brother Stuart, Cappy is not a nickname I enjoy nor do I wish to be used! So I’ll have less of it from you! πŸ˜‚
